Beauty Before Age
How would you fancy the idea of going to a photographer to have nude photos taken of yourself?
I'm not talking about anything sleazy here, but about having tasteful nude portraits taken of you while you're in your prime.
This is a phenomenon which is becoming increasingly popular among ordinary people - sometimes people who would never let anyone except their partner see them nude.
I've recently read about some photographers who offer, and even specialise in offering, this service.
One such photographer is Jason Ho, a professional photographer from Singapore, who charges clients between 400 and 1200 USD for the service. He claims to have 2 or 3 clients each month on average and they tend to be in their 20s and mostly executives.
Most clients tell him they want to preserve their youthful looks and bodies as a keepsake for old age.
Perhaps the most interesting point raised by Mr Ho (in an interview with the Electric New Paper) is one of semantics, regarding the difference in meaning between the words nude and naked:
"I don't think what I'm doing is pornographic at all. These are nude pictures, not naked ones. There is a difference. To me, as an artist, I feel that naked is nasty and threatening. Nude, on the other hand, is natural, safe and feminine."
An interesting personal view and one which I can understand. One thing's for sure, Hi-Naked would not sound as good as Hi-Nude.
